Real-Life Popeye: Arm-wrestling champion Jeff Dabe has monstrous hands and 19 inch forearms

Arm-wrestler Jeff Dabe known as Real-life Popeye because of his giant forearms

There is hardly anyone who is not familiar with the classic Popeye the Sailor Man cartoon, a man with huge forearms, who ate spinach through his pipe to save his damsel in distress.

But, people may not know with  the real world man Jeff Dabe has similar forearms like Popeye, from the very moment of his birth, which were abnormally large for an infant.

57 years old Jeff Dabe is a popular arm wrestler, who earned respect in the field despite his abnormally large-sized forearms. Continuously thriving as an arm wrestler, he has also posed for many shows alongside big names. Jeff holds the record for the biggest forearms in the world.

Jeff Dabe was born in 1963 with huge forearms. Doctors couldn't find a single condition that would explain what would soon become increasingly clear.

Scientists at the University of Minnesota looked for gigantism or elephantiasis but there was no trace,  Dabe was just blessed with superhuman-like forearms.

According to a report by LADbible, Dabe has always used his oversized limbs to his advantage. His hands are recorded to be 49 cm in circumference, and he adopted the nickname ‘Popeye’ in high school after one of his high school coaches took him to a local charity event to compete in his first arm wrestling title.

"People freak out when they see my hands in real life," he says. However, Dabe has never really seen his monster  arms as a burden.

"I wrestled as a senior in high school. The fans way back then were the ones that named me Popeye," Dabe said.

"I was always good at arm wrestling, but the size of my hands did shock people at first, but I had the strength to back it up," he said.

In addition to his arm wrestling accomplishments, Jeff holds some pretty notable records to his name. His enormous forearms measure in at a whopping 19 inch. Not only that, his ring finger is an insane 4.78in around, making his size 38 wedding ring the biggest ever seen.

Furthermore, he dominated the world arm-wrestling league in 2014, becoming a finalist. In addition, he also won 3rd position in the category of left-hand in WAL 2015’s northern region.

Real-life Popeye Jeff stands tall with a height of 5 feet and 9 inches and has maintained a weight of 113 Kg. Even at this age he is still energetic enough to maintain his fitness.

Jeff is an All American Arm Wrestling Champion as well. He often travels across America and puts up challenges to regional champions. His gigantic forearms not only attract the contenders but also surprise spectators. That is why his fans call him Popeye with love.

Jeff said: “Thanks to the World Arm wrestling League(WAL) I am now competing with people from all over America.

The WAL sees Jeff and Gina, 53, travel across the United States to compete in tournaments in the likes of Las Vegas.

Dabe’s wife Gina said: “I always encourage Jeff no matter what he does  and it’s so fun. Everyone thinks Jeff is really funny and we do lots of goofy things together. This is just the next phase.

“I love the tournaments, and he gets me on aeroplanes to nice hotels and beautiful places. We are so proud of him.”

As the old adage goes, if you’ve got it, flaunt it and in the case of Jeff, he has definitely made the most of his natural assets.

Unfortunately, in the late '80s, he popped his right arm and gave up arm wrestling, although that isn't quite the end of his tale.

Now, at age 57, Jeff has decided to get back into arm wrestling and fulfill his dreams. Instead of competing with his injured right hand, he now just uses his left.
