Hanahaki: is it real or a fake disease |
Hanahaki Disease in which people throw up flower petals when they
experience heartache (strong feeling of sadness) in one-sided love, still
remains a question, Is this a fictional disease or a truth?
Hanahaki is an illness in
which the victim hurls up flower petals, born from unrequited love, where
the patient’s throat will fill up with flower, they will then proceed to throw,
and cough up the petals, (sometimes even the flowers). It is another kind of
lovesickness disease recognized by medieval physicians, where the length
of the disease varies with each person. But on an average, it will last up to 2
or 3 months, but sometimes it only lasts a couple weeks.
The HanaHaki Disease is common in stories from eastern Asia.
They’re especially well-known by readers of Japanese graphic novels, called
Manga. A character catches HanaHaki Disease when they experience unrequited
love. That means they have a crush on a person who doesn’t like them back.
Symptoms,
The main symptoms of the Hanahaki disease include strong pain, a
flower bloom in the lungs and heart, and finally throwing up. However, among
East Asian creators and fans (particularly, Koreans and Japanese), the
perception of flowers regurgitating because of unrequited love dates way before
the release of Hanahaki Otome. Its true origin is currently not known.
Is Hanahaki real?,
As we all know, the human system can’t grow flowers. This
fictitious disease comes when the person you love the most doesn’t love you
back. It is often seen in characters in fan fiction. Someone having Hanahaki
disease usually has a pharynx that fills up with flowers, and they spit out
flower petals.
The patient is distressed because their dearest hasn’t returned
their feelings. The Hanahaki Disease takes place in the lungs; the victim
coughs up bloody flower petals. The disease is cured if the person’s love is
returned.
Basically, Hanahaki disease originated because of a Japanese comic
Or manga, Hanahaki Otome or The girl who spit flower by Naoko Matsuda.
It first appeared back in 2009 and became popular ever since.
Hanahaki is a combination of two Japanese words Hana, which means
flower and Hakimasu, which means to throw up. So, the word Hanahaki literally
means The girl who threw up the flower.
In this entirely fictional Hanahaki Disease, the patient who
suffers from this disease, which develops because of one-sided love, slowly
starts throwing up flowers.
Is Hanahaki curable?
There are two cures for HanaHaki Disease. First, the illness goes
away if the other person changes their mind. If they have romantic feelings for
the afflicted person, then that person gets better. The second cure is surgery.
Fictional doctors can remove the flowers. This also takes away the romantic
feelings the character felt.
In another scenario, if the person doesn't love back the person
affected, then this disease only grows stronger and stronger which ultimately
leads to the death of a person concerned.
Real people can’t catch HanaHaki Disease. But they can experience
heartache. And heartache often causes physical symptoms, like nausea and low
energy. It may not be HanaHaki Disease, but it certainly doesn’t feel good.
What can real people do to feel better?
The best cure people can do is learn to regulate their emotions.
Everyone will go through heartache, anger, or sadness in their lives. It helps
to be able to manage those difficult emotions. This can make a huge difference
and help you feel better sooner.
There is no specific kind of flower, a Hanahaki victim spit, it’ll
either be the crushes favourite type of flower, or their favourite colour.
Many authors and artists use cherry blossoms as the flowers whose
petals the victim coughs up. For example, flowers are used to represent the
victim’s personality or affections, or even those of the beloved one. Flower
symbolism has also gained its popularity in Western fandom.
Is Hanahaki found in India,
Though, Hanahaki
was only popularized in East Asian cultures, including Chinese, Japanese, and
Korean, before finding its way into the Western world. In fandom, Hanahaki is
often used in relation to B. L. pairings. The Hanahaki disease is not exclusive
to fandom non-fannish artwork, music videos, songs, poetry, and other creative
works around the concept intrigue many people. However, Hanahaki disease is
most popular within fandom because of its potential for pining, hurt or
comfort, angst, and general romantic tension.
Hanahaki is not only associated with a specific region or a
country, anyone who believes in fantasies and could feel the pain of love or
broken heart could be affected by Hanahaki.
What if it would be real,
People strongly believe that Hanahaki disease would be the
scariest if it were real. After all, it would probably be pretty scary if you
suffered from having one-sided love (a crush) on someone to the point where you
would begin coughing up flowers, don’t you think?
Here are the things that happen to someone with hanahaki disease
in fiction:
-First, flowers will begin to grow in the lungs.
-The victim begins to cough up petals of a flower (of which can
happen to be the victim’s favorite flower or color).
-They will feel pain.
-Sometimes, if the victim gets angry, their body might begin
shaking.
-When the victim feels nervous, their stomach may knot.
-The victim may also hallucinate, lose their usual appetite, and
get a fever.
Not funny at all, but If Hanahaki disease were real, it would be
pretty common. After all, lots of people get crushes. Everyone would know the
name of the disease, and it wouldn’t be at all a secret. But nobody likes to
talk about it. As a result, the victim usually won’t seek out surgery or
confess to their crush until the disease is in the final stages or it’s too
late. The disease would probably be fatal in a few weeks, or a month or two,
but it would vary based on the intensity of the crush.
As time progresses, the symptoms will worsen, and so will the
disease. During the last stages, the victim will stop coughing up petals and
cough up flowers that are whole. The pain will worsen as well. At this point,
there are 3 options to choose from, death, surgery, or hoping that the person
who you love will return it to you.
