Mumbai local train sensation "Rekha" requests people to change attitude towards eunuchs


"I am neither a woman nor I am a man.....

it's not a crime, if I am someone who is a Eunuch." 

'Eunuchs or Transgender' means, the third integral part of the society apart from women and men. Even though eunuchs have been seen in society from a different point of view but, the the social truth is that eunuchs in society have been seen in every scripture from ancient times to Ramayana and Mahabharata. Today's Eunuchs-society is gradually succeeding in making a distinct identity in every field from education to politics. In the same category today, ‘The Social Truth’ is going to tell about one such eunuchs Pooja Sharma aka 'Rekha' (Pooja Sharma aka 'Rekha') from Mumbai who has not only mastered the dance art but currently working with many eminent production houses.

Rekha, seen daily in Mumbai's 7:40 local train, is no less than a celebrity, she enters with the desire to take only one rupee from the people in the train. But, as soon as she gets on the train, she does not need to ask for money from anyone. People not only give them money themselves but also like to stand near them.


Rekha's style is very unique

Rekha has created a distinct identity due to her attractive personality. People like her dance and style very much because there is no vulgarity in it. People say - "Rekha is very calm by nature, we see positivity in her smile and in her words."

Pooja's fans gave her the name 'Rekha'

Pooja Sharma's way of wearing saree and jewellery and dance style is so adorable that people compare her style to Bollywood actress Rekha and that is why her fans have started calling her Rekha. Rekha says - "It is God's grace that people don't think of me as a eunuch or a beggar, they love me so much that they have given me the name Rekha."

Pooja is famous as ‘one rupee Rekha ji’

Pooja says - "When I board a train in such dust and mud, people gather around me not thinking of me as a beggar and address me as a One-rupee Rekha ji, which which shows their love for me."


Transgender Rekha considers dance as worship

Rekha, who is fond of dance since childhood, considers it as a worship. She says- "I have a fondness for makeup since childhood, as well as dancing in a sari, for me dancing is nothing less than a worship" In this local train of Mumbai, she often found in dancing on different film songs. 

Today Rekha is working with several production houses

Currently Rekha is working as a dance performer. Now she not only dances on the train but also makes her dance videos on social media where her followers can be seen in lakhs. Now Rekha has also made her own videos with some production houses. Her dance videos can be easily viewed on YouTube.


Rekha wants to change the attitude of society towards eunuchs

Pooja, who is  asking for only one rupee from the passengers in the train,  says "Since childhood, I have no greed for money, I just want you to let the eunuchs live in this world, they were made by the same God, as you all. So they are also entitled to respect, there is no dearth of anything in this world, only give respect to the eunuchs for their share. Through a radio show Rekha asks the society  - "The social truth is when a child is born or in the opening of a new shop or setting up a business with a view of auspicious and inauspicious , the eunuchs are called first, then why is the society so reluctant to honor them? Or why do you change your path from that one  on which a eunuch is going? I just want the eunuchs to be given the necessary respect from this society."
