Hyderabad's blind woman Jyotsna became India’s youngest woman to do PHD in English

 


"The power of man is in his soul, and the soul is never handicapped" - Jyotsna of Hyderabad has made this statement come true. Jyotsna Phaniza of Hyderabad became the first Indian blind woman to do PhD in English Literature (Doctor of Philosophy-PHD) due to her hard work, determination, willpower and dedication despite being blind. Currently she is appointed as Assistant Professor at Delhi University.

Writer Jyotsna did PhD at only 25 years old

Jyotsna, a blind writer, fulfilled her dream of pursuing a PhD at the age of 25 and has set the record for being the youngest Indian PhD woman.

Jyotsna completed her Ph.D in English literature

Jyotsna, who completed her Doctorate degree in English from English and Foreign Languages University- EFLU, wanted to study History, Economics and Political Science not in English Literature but due to her blindness, it Could not happen.

In the past, the college refused to give admission to Jyotsna.

She could not fulfill her desire to study in any of the above subjects apart from English, due to non-admission by Jyotsna College. She says - "Even though I had secured the highest marks in the tenth, the principal of Kaikalur Government Junior College refused to give me admission, yet I did not consider my blindness to be a hindrance in the path of success. Did not give up and proved my ability to succeed in my objective of doing PhD "

Jyotsna passed the National Eligibility Test in 2011 due to her hard work, determination, willpower and perseverance and not considering blindness in any way.



Jyotsna has also won gold medal in graduation

Born in Kaikalur village in Krishna state of Andhra Pradesh, Jyotsna is blind since childhood. Jyotsna, who is always leading in studies, has passed class X from Blind Model High School (Narsapur) in Narsapur and Gold Medal in graduation from Maris Stella College (Marris Stella College, Vijawada) in Vijayawada.

Jyotsna was asked strange questions in interviews due to being blind

Even after being highly qualified in studies, whenever Jyotsna went for teaching related interviews, due to her blindness she was always asked strange questions like - You are blind, how will you be able to teach students? Will you be able to control the children of the class?, How will you take the attentence? Such questions undoubtedly upset Jyotsna but she decided not to back down.

Many research papers written by Jyotsna have also been published

As of now, more than ten research articles of Jyotsna have also been published in many books and journals.

jyotsna poem collection 'Ceramic Evening' was also published

Jyotsna gives all credit to her husband Krishna are also written. She also writes poem on different social topics. One of her poems collection 'Ceramic Evening' has also been published.

jyotsna has received honors from Andhra Pradesh government

jyotsna, who brings 85.2% marks, has been a state topper. Due to which she has also received the Talent Honor, Gold Medal and Merit Scholarship by the State Government. After this success, she proved that people with disabilities should not be considered low at any cost in the society, they also have the ability to do many things in life.
