What happened outside Delhi Police Headquarters on 2 November was no ordinary protest.
It was the open explosion of years of suppressed anger inside the khaki uniform.
One officer shouted in front of the camera:
“Stay silent and swallow the insult 99 times — that’s fine… but stand up once for your self-respect and you get suspended immediately?”
This single sentence is the real face of Delhi Police.
What Happened?
On 23 October, a clash broke out between lawyers and police at Shahdara police station.
Lawyers went on strike.
The pressure grew so intense that without any independent inquiry, ACP Manasvi Vashishtha and SHO Arun Kumar were transferred.
On 2 November, police personnel hit the streets outside PHQ. The ACP himself stood with them.
Slogans rang out — “We will not tolerate the insult of the uniform.”
They met the Commissioner and received assurances.
The very next day, the ACP was suspended.
The Inside Truth
- The ground-level jawans who face sticks and abuses every day are saying that senior officers sitting in air-conditioned rooms, under political pressure, immediately throw their own men under the bus.
- Both the police administration and the Home Ministry bowed before the pressure of lawyers.
- An officer who dares to ask questions is never spared. The suspension is living proof.
The Bitterest Question
When the guardians of the law themselves are not safe,
when they have to take to the streets for their own self-respect,
then who is responsible for the safety of the common man?
When even the police have to bend before power and pressure,
whom do we expect impartial justice from?
This anger of the khaki is justified.
But this anger also reminds us of something else —
the same system before which the police have been crushing ordinary citizens every day
is now crushing the police itself.
