MBBS Doctor Noore Parveen become ‘Mother Teresa of Kadapa’, she gives medical treatment in just Rs 10

The biggest worship for any doctor is to leave no stone unturned in his duty while treating the patient without asking his caste and religion and by all efforts to give new life to the patients and satisfy them through medical services.

But, it is a bitter truth of Indian society that most of the patients avoid getting treatment due to high fees demanded by doctors. It is often seen that the inability to pay the medical bills and the high cost of treatment becomes the reason of their death. It would not be wrong to say that in today's time a registered Medical Practitioner (RMPs) charges a fee of 500 to 1000 rupees only for checking the pulse of the patient. In such a situation, financially incompetent people start making rounds of some quacks or pir-maulvi.

In these sad situations 28-year-old young doctor Noori Parveen from Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh, has come up with a wonderful combination of humanity and generosity, who give medical care to poor people with a consultation fee of just Rs.10. Because of this good work of Dr. Noori, people affectionately call her 'Mother Teresa of Kadapa'.  ‘Ray of hope’ Dr. Noori Parveen treats patients for a fee of just Rs.10

Dr. Noori Parveen resident of Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh, takes only Rs.10 as consultation fee from destitute and economically weaker patients. At the same time, a day's fee of Rs 50 is charged from the patients admitted in the clinic. Having become a ‘Ray of hope’ for the economically weaker patients - Noori treats 40 patients everyday. Presently, Noori has become a role model and messiah for thousands of families who are unable to afford expensive medicines and treatment.

I have adopted this profession for the purpose of social service, money does not matter much to me: Dr. Noori

Doctor Noori told in an interview with Gulf News – A life is not worth living if one does not care for the sufferings of the people. Most of the patients who visit us are suffering from malnourishment and weakness. Sometimes,  children come to me with a note of Rs 10 and say madam, treat my sister. I feel happy after hearing such a thing and working for them. Most of the people are unable to go to government hospitals due to relatively less facilities and it is not possible for them to get treatment due to expensive fees of private hospitals. Under these circumstances, they go to such quaint doctors who treat their illness by giving them steroids which are not at all good for their health. I am an MBBS doctor, and I treat them by charging only Rs.10 from them. Unlike other people working in this field, I still take financial support from my father to fulfill my needs. I have come into this profession only for the purpose of social service, not to earn money.”

Nuri's parents feel very proud of this good act

Dr Noori, who has done MBBS from Fatima Institute of Medical College (FIMS), Cuddapah, told BBC that – “I deliberately opened my clinic in an underprivileged area of Kadapa where I can give better treatment to poor patients, I started this clinic without informing my parents, but when they came to know about my decision and this clinic, they appreciated and encouraged me.”

Noorie belongs to a middle class family

Noori Parveen, a young doctor from Kadapa district, belongs to a middle class family. She has completed MBBS by taking admission in medical college with utmost hard work and determination, on which her family has also spent a lot of money. In such a situation, charging only 10 rupees for the treatment of needy and poor patients is undoubtedly a commendable and inspirational step taken by Noori.

The data shows that about 85.9% of rural and economically-weaker Indians have no health expenditure coverage, while more than 35% of such patients die due to high rates of medical treatment and healthcare facilities. The poor are mostly deprived of advanced medical facilities as the cost of medicine and other treatments are beyond their reach. The social truth of our country is that among all, the poor are the worst sufferers as they have no capacity to deal with the high cost of medical treatment. In such a situation, if they are going through some serious disease, then the situation becomes more painful.
